Sleep tricks - how to sleep well -

I started using this app to fall asleep trying to mediate every night. I never manage to get to meditative state as I am new to meditation and I do this before bed, but my aim is to fall asleep which works always! :)
it's an excellent app and there's one meditation free, the others you can purchase. I play it on my phone or iPad. (Wearing my eye mask which I started doing recently. It makes me sleep better and for longer as no light is disturbing my sleep.

the positive message about the law of attraction it communicates doesn't hurt either. I've been trying to cut out negative thoughts out of my life ever since I've read the book the secret which is all about the law of attraction and about that you should never think anything negative as you may attract it. So stop taking into consideration every single possibility about how an event could turn out (including bad ones;) out of the reason to be prepared and realistic, not naive. No from now on you are only allowed to think about the ones you want to attract.

I recommend looking into it! Helps you with direction, with taking your life into your hands, be positive and happy.

Attracting Abundance

I signed up to the newsletter of this page a while ago when I felt a little lost, unsure and unhappy.

I recommend it a lot for situations like this. It's about meditation, asking for the better and tapping.

Clarisonic Mia 2 yeah!

FINALLY I bought the Clarisonic! I am excited. I watched lots of videos on youtube about it and read lots of reviews. Most people swear by it.  A minority finds it too hash on their skin.

My skin hasn't been perfect for a while now. I had amazing skin as a teenager up until 22. Then I started having problems. First major deep breakouts on my chin until I stopped taking the Pill and stopped eating this many soy products, then those cysts cleared up. I still get cysts normally one at the time either over or under my lip, on my upper forehead or over my brows. Normally as soon as one disappears another one starts forming and I do know that this is mainly from the inside, it helps if I look at the chinese medicine face map to try to detect which organ may have ill problems causing my skin to inflame, then I take a good supplement or eat the right clean food to support that organ. In general it's mostly either the kidneys, intestines, liver or gallbladder. I don't know if it's an sensitivity to maybe certain types of wines or nuts, Gluten, meat or too much coffee (I rarely have milk products other than a tiny bit of cheese) but I am trying to find out. I just know that if I am eating clean mainly fruit, veg and alkaline grains. I don't get it... Too much fat may trigger some, or sugar... I will let you know once I found out ;-)

Anyways, in addition to that I do have a skin surface problem. I have little bumps which they are everywhere when you look close - not great.
I hoped the Clarisonic will be my wholly grail and help my skin get rid of it...

I have to say since I bought it I actually use it most days twice a day only on my forehead, chin and nose though (most people only use it once a day) but I absolutely LOVE it... I don't have dry bits anymore, as it exfoliates gently, my skin texture is great. I really need it.

Now, to the little surface blocked pores- pimples, there it has to be some bacteria overgrowth, so I went to Zest pharmacy and got myself the Eucerin Dermo PurifyingConcentrate. It's a cheap line but very very promising. I shopped around the little pharmacy (I love that Soho pharmacy by the way, the pharmacist knows all his products, he only stocks what he knows works... has dr Vogel products which are the best too etc..the guy is great) So, I am trying the eucerin concentrate which is supposed to fight the bacteria and clean the pores and protect the skin from further blemishes.. it just all sounded perfect for me, read it yourself! I haven't found another product sounding so exactly like what I need. Turns out, I love the product so far.
I have started using it 2 days ago and has it has done some good to my skin healing already. Some of my blemishes vanished quite well already. But I have to use it for longer to say more about it and that little hard surface acne is obviously still there but I believe this product will totally help it disappear!! In the past I either went to hash or used products not specially designed for what I need. I need antibacterial but not too harsh.
What I love in those products is that they don't seem to have any crazy hash ingredients, there dermatologically tested, no salicylic acid or other...

In order to make sure and speed the process up so I ordered 3 more products of the line at boots, they have a 3 for 2 offer for it too which is amazing.
I ordered the DayCare it's the moisturiser to go over the serum for the day, the night care which works even harder though the night and the concealer stick.

I will let you know how it goes, can't wait to pick it all up at boots on Monday ;-)

Don't forget about your neck - The neck is more important than expected -massages - Dr. M. Ali

Dr Ali

I read this article about the importance of the neck recently when I browsed Dr. Ali's clinic page. It's a super informative page in general should you have nay health questions, he answers lots of them here, the question and answers section of his blog.

I have two of his books at home, dr. Ali's nutrition bible and dr. Ali's women's health bible which I particularly like to further look into specifically women related issues.
Dr. Ali has fans and opponents like most have,  have a read though it and make your mind up. I really love his approach and the integral health answer and question section on his clinic page is really fabulous and helpful. I love having his books at home to look up stuff or read to go deeper into a particular subject, some health issue I am tying to come to terms with or something I am looking into understanding better.

I haven't read this book about the neck, but it sounds like an interesting approach to me, worth a try! I only know from my own experiences that if my neck or shoulders are out and tight I may be more tired, have headaches or am less able to concentrate, just feel unwell. As soon as it's fixed it's like a stream of energy gets everything floating again.
Comment below what you think about it! Have you read the book?

The Subconscious Brain is a little understood part of our being, yet it is responsible for controlling practically every aspect of our lives. - Dr. Ali

The Neck Connection Book Cover - Doctor Mosaraf Ali
Using the subconscious brain we live, emote, reproduce, digest, protect ourselves, heal and regulate all our bodily functions. We also react to external stimuli, sleep, wake, make love, coordinate, stand, carry out skills, eat, maintain homoeostasis (constant body temperature, maintenance and blood parameters). All of these, and more, use the subconscious brain.
This book reveals my discovery and hypothesis, that the uncontrollable part of the involuntary brain can be controlled and influenced to function more efficiently by improving the blood supply to it. The more nutrition, oxygen, glucose, micro elements etc. you supply to it through blood and brain fluid, the better those functions will be carried out.
The basic logic is that the conscious brain appeared much later in the evolution of the brain and is therefore present in mammals. So in human evolution, the conscious brain appeared originally in mammals. On the other hand reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish and insects still only have the involuntary or automatic brain functioning on its own without a conscious command. The two parts of the brain have developed in humans in two separate circulatory networks. In strict principle, thecarotid artery, which is located in the front of the neck, hidden behind the firmer muscles, predominantlysupplies blood to the conscious or voluntary brain.
That is the part that thinks, makes decisions, has logic, deduces, analyses, sees colours or shapes, hears and stores sounds, or words, in our long-term memory and gives us intelligence. How quickly and effectively we carry out these functions depends largely on this supply. It cannot for example, help in the process of digestion, hormonal regulation, body temperature control or improve the immune system. These are highly complicated processes. The vertebral arteries and veins, however, are located in a canal, formed by the bodies of the neck vertebrae and thick fibrous sheaths. The body has taken utmost care in protecting theseblood vessels. I discovered that this is vital because they nourish the most crucial and delicate parts of the brain known as The Subconscious Brain. Eureka!
For centuries, it was an accepted belief, especially in India, that you need to meditate, sublimate, eat vegetarian food, control your thoughts and relate them to the subconscious brain. After years of perseverance devotees were able to slow down their breathing and heart rate. They were able to go into a "near death" state of "Samadhi” or deep hibernation, influence healing, even cure diseases. This book illustrates how influenced your well-being, health, brain and bodily functions are simply by improving blood flow to the very part of the brain that regulates all these.
You need to learn a little anatomy to know how these blood vessels are affected by accidents, traumas, stress, birth injuries, posture or surgeries sustained in the neck area. The fragile and delicately balanced cervical vertebrae dislocate or misalign at their joints and compress or twist these vital arteries in the process. That reduces blood supply to the subconscious brain and alters its normal vital functions. Correct the faults with my unique technique of therapy with massage, manipulation, specific yoga exercises and change in diet and `bingo', you automatically heal and normal functions of the body are achieved.
This is the simple solution to very complicated questions: why are we ill or why do we function under par?And what we can do about it is the revolutionary idea detailed in this book. I have worked unceasingly to prove my hypotheses for more than 20 years, against all odds, facing challenges and criticism. I have carried out my therapy on thousands of patients, to deduce, formulate, and ascertain the Neck Connection in Disease and Health. This is my seventh book. As an established writer, speaker and doctor I have pioneered integrated medicine in specific fields and I want to share the contents of this book with you. I hope my discovery is further researched and put to use to understand and treat numerous diseases to help mankind relieve itself of discomfort and suffering.

These protein pancakes are fantabulous. They're low in fat, gluten free and high in protein and so tasty. You could call them  Almond Butter BananaPancakes -

Carrot pulp marmalade

3 oranges
4 cups of water
3 cups of carrot pulp
4 tablespoons of lemon juice
3 cups of honey
1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger
1 package of store-bought dried pectin

Peel all three oranges and cut the rinds into very narrow slices. Cook the slices in four cups of water until they're tender ... then let 'em sit at least seven hours (or overnight).

Once the peelings have had a chance to stand for seven (or more) hours, add the carrot pulp to them and boil for 10 minutes.

Next, chop the oranges into a bowl and remove all seeds.

Then introduce the oranges, lemon juice, honey, and ginger to the pulp/peelings mixture and boil for 20 minutes more.

If—after 20 minutes-the marmalade has begun to jell on its own ... terrific! Pour the mixture into hot, sterile canning jars and seal. Otherwise—if the jam hasn't thickened-you should stir in the dried pectin at this point. (I don't know why, but sometimes you'll need the pectin and sometimes you won't. All I can say is, when in doubt . . . use the pectin.) Boil the pectin-enriched marmalade for another 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, but continue to stir for an additional seven minutes. Finally, pour the marmalade into hot, sterile canning jars and seal.

Thank's for the recipe Mother earth news!!

Book club - business

It's about time for another book club

I've selected 3 great books for valuable skills for your business and private life. Truly AMAZING books!! Especially the first two.

Check out:

Combining insights in negotiation research with the tactics used by some of the world's leading business strategists, this book is a guide to becoming a more effective negotiator. Richard Shell explores the hidden psychology and patterns that govern every bargaining situation. The text is driven by stories about everything from hostage taking and high stakes business deals to everyday encounters. It offers a step-by-step approach that draws on the reader's own communication style to make a skillful negotiator.

Did you know that by neglecting to negotiate her starting salary for her first job, a woman may sacrifice over a half a million pounds in earnings by the end of her career? Yet, as research reveals, men are four times as likely to ask for higher pay than are women with the same qualifications.
In this eye-opening book, Linda Babcock and Sara Laschever draw on research in psychology, sociology, economics and organisational behaviour as well as dozens of interviews to explore the personal and societal reasons women seldom ask for what they need, want and deserve at work and at home.
Women Don't Ask - a sensation when published in the US in 2003 - is a call to arms that will help you recognise the ways in which our culture perpetuates inequalities - and how you can begin to overcome them.

and to change the subject a little, going into economics, if it interests you:

What went wrong with American business at the end of the 20th century?
Until the spring of 2001, Enron epitomized the triumph of the New Economy. Feared by rivals, worshipped by investors, Enron seemingly could do no wrong. Its profits rose every year; its stock price surged ever upward; its leaders were hailed as visionaries.
Then a young Fortune writer, Bethany McLean, wrote an article posing a simple question - how, exactly, does Enron make its money?
Within a year Enron was facing humiliation and bankruptcy, the largest in US history, which caused Americans to lose faith in a system that rewarded top insiders with millions of dollars, while small investors lost everything. It was revealed that Enron was a company whose business was an illusion, an illusion that Wall Street was willing to accept even though they knew what the real truth was. This book - fully updated for the paperback - tells the extraordinary story of Enron's fall.

There is also a documentary type movie with the same name, which you can view on Netflix for example.
